The world has labeled God’s children as “faith healers” because they believe a person can “by faith” be healed. As I was watching a video clip on this subject, I began to observe the people who had come to be healed. As I continued to watch them, I was moved with compassion. I began to see that most of them their faith stopped at the “man” of God instead of continuing on to the “God” of the man. There is a difference.
When King Ahaziah sent his first captain with his army of 50 soldiers to tell Elijah to come down from top of the hill, the captain demanded Elijah to come down by saying, “Man of God, the king said to come down.” Elijah knew that they believed that he was a man, but they did not believe in his God. So Elijah said, “If If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty.” The God of Elijah was real and to prove it, God rained down fire from heaven and burned up the captain and his soldiers. A second captain with his army of 50 soldiers was sent and the same thing happened. A third captain with his army of 50 soldiers was sent, but this time the captain came believing Elijah as a man of God and also believing in the God of the man (2 Kings 1:9-15).
We must always remember that our Lord Jesus Christ use us as vessels or instruments. We are His Body. Without Him, we are nothing and can do nothing. It is very crucial that no matter how anointed and powerful the Holy Spirit use us to do His will, we must remember always to give the Glory to Jesus Christ. We must always teach the people to look, through us, to Jesus Christ who is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
If God has chosen you to be a leader in the office of an apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor and/or teacher, please remember to always lead the people to look through you to get to Jesus Christ. Don’t teach them to stop at you to get to Jesus Christ because no matter what you are called to be, as long as you are living on this earth you are a human being subject to fail. There are many unsaved people who refuse to even attend church because their faith was in the man or woman of God and not the God of the man or woman. When the man or woman of God failed in life, this discouraged them from serving the Lord. They were not taught to have faith in God. They were taught to have faith in the man or woman of God. No matter how the man or woman of God fails, we will not be judged for what they do. We will be judged for what we do. Every man and woman will give an account of their own deeds because through Jesus Christ, we can do all things (Philippians 4:13).
